Embracing our Neuro-divergence Helps Heal our Spiritual Soul
Janet Stanley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with an emphasis in Cross Cultural/Intercultural Communications. Her Master’s is in Women’s Studies combining Women’s Studies, Anthropology and Sociology. She worked in the non-profit community for over thirty years providing advocacy and leadership in the fields of HIV/AIDS, Queer politics, Reproductive Rights and Women’s Rights.
She lives with severe clinical depression and hypomania which is on the bipolar spectrum. She believes the stigma, shame and misunderstandings associated with mental illness or being neuro-divergent have been used to keep women quiet, fearful of speaking our truth and feeling dismissed. She believes for many living with the knowing that our brains work differently than others’ brains, that this ability to view the world through different lenses is truly a gift rather than a curse which we have long been led to believe.
In recent years, Janet has been a Spiritual Healer. She studied with a Celtic Shaman for 7 years in Ireland and the U.S. and served as an apprentice to a Shamanic Practitioner. She believes we are never NOT on our path - that all we encounter in our lives are our teachers if we are able to welcome them as the sages they are.
